Every great story begins with passion — and at A Spot for The Future, that passion is our youth.
In November 2023, a small group of Appaloosa Horse Club members came together with one shared vision: to ensure that the future of the Appaloosa breed remains bright, strong, and full of opportunity. They recognized that the next generation of riders, trainers, breeders, and industry leaders were already among us — showing, learning, and dreaming big. All they needed was a little support to help those dreams take flight.
From that spark, A Spot for The Future was born — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to investing in the education and development of Appaloosa youth.

Smile Like Steve
Friends of the late Steve Bennett have come together to honor his memory by establishing a $250 annual scholarship, awarded each year beginning in 2025 to one deserving Youth ApHC member. This scholarship celebrates Steve’s legacy of kindness, mentorship, and dedication to the Appaloosa community.

🎓 Building Opportunity Through Scholarships
The inaugural year of the program launched alongside the 2024 Appaloosa Youth World Championship Show, marking the beginning of something truly special. Sixteen $500 scholarships were awarded by random draw across eight show divisions — from cattle to showmanship — celebrating the incredible diversity of Appaloosa youth talent.
Those scholarships were more than just financial aid; they were a message to every young exhibitor that their hard work, sportsmanship, and love for the breed matter.
By 2025, the support had grown even stronger. Donors, sponsors, and friends of the Appaloosa community rallied together, helping fund more scholarships — including special awards like the Smile Like Steve Memorial Scholarship, created to honor the late Steve Bennett’s kindness and mentorship.
Each award tells a story of connection — between generations, between horse and rider, and between passion and purpose.
💫 A Legacy That Lasts
The vision doesn’t stop at yearly scholarships. With the introduction of the Legacy Donor Program, A Spot for The Future is working to ensure that youth scholarships exist in perpetuity. Legacy donors have the opportunity to fund entire divisions, helping guarantee that every future Appaloosa youth competitor has access to educational opportunities long after today’s show season ends.
It’s about leaving a mark that lasts — one that continues to grow, teach, and inspire.

When young people become involved in the Appaloosa Horse Club, they gain far more than ribbons and trophies. They develop teamwork, confidence, time management, communication, and leadership skills that will carry them far beyond the arena.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. A Spot For The Future is a 501(c)3. A donation reciept will be provided for your records.
How are the donations used?
All donations support the scholarship endowment they are earmarked for. Check out the progress meter on the Our Projects page.
How do I know my donation is making a difference?
Trust, transparency, and honesty are key to any organizations development and fundraising campaigns. An annual Impact Report is available under the About Us menu.
Do you accept in-kind donations?
Yes. From time to time, we may have a special need such as help with marketing videos, photography, or various other items. Please contact us to explore options.
Can I set up a recurring monthly donation?
Yes. Our Square site can be customized to allow for many recurring options.
